There are actually two nights in this dance competition. Our group was arranged at the 2nd night for the category of ensemble open, demi-character open and group open. However, the first night was actually more on the children category as well as the under 16s. The children are so cute! If the organizer was not patrolling the hall for the whole night, i would have all the cute pictures now =( sob sob..what a disappointment...

Another great news is that Min Yi had got the first prize on the Tap solo under 16! And En Rui had got Honourable Mansion in the Modern Jazz solo category! What a cool dance, nice choreograph steps..She Bang! Congratulations! Other than that Erika's costume was sexy..looks like a pink rose with Mexican color style skirt =D

Thus, after watching the show on the first night, we were so nervous. All the solos and ensembles for the open category was so impressive. Big pressure...And without any delay, we change into our pyjamas at the first minute we reach our condominium. All of us was actually wanting to get a good night sleep in order to charge our energy for the battle on the next day.

BEFORE COMPETITION

On the next day, it was such a surprise that everyone woke up around 6am. And I was the one who was holding a pillow with my eyes open without doing anything for about 15 minutes. Everyone was rushing to the bathroom, in and out from the room, wandering at the living room...

After having our breakfast, we went for our rehearsal on the stage. By the time we reach there, Dance Spectrum's dancers were already on stage, rehearsing their ensemble and solos. Quite attention-grabbing dance. The steps were enough powerful and works well with their song. And of course, ours were good enough too. haha..

And after the rehearsal, we went to sommerset to prepare ourselves. Have lunch, make-up, prepare costumes, iron costumes.....

And we also took some pictures before leaving the condominium. =D to take a good nice shot before competition...

Im back from Singapore!!

Still remember the Asia Pacific Dance Competition i mentioned last time? I'm just back from the competition!

The performance of all the groups are amazing! Especially the Philippines, which came from Halili Cruz School of Ballet. I bet the choreographers must be figuring the patterns and steps out for a few nights even in their dreams.

About 50 dancers performing on stage, so unbelievable! How can the choreographers make such nice and sharp steps and the patterns for 50 dancers...Their steps were so united and even thier hair style are all the same: same length, same colour, same thickness..moreover, their costume was so perfect.

However, The Dance Academy Kuching has got runner-up prize in the category of group classical and national. 93 marks over 100! Our choreographer even mentioned that 'this was the first time i saw all of you so diligent and team work'! The dance was fantastic, we got a great applause from the audience. It was so sad that we cant took any picture during the competition as it was not allowed to do so. =(

BEFORE GOING TO SINGAPORE

Our flight was on 20th of July at 2:55pm. Dancers are inform to reach the airport before 1:55pm. And by the time i reach the airport was 1:45pm. Out of my expectation, majority of the dancers are already there and waiting to check in. This was actually quite strange, as according to my past experience, they will always appear themselves at the very last minutes. But that day was different..maybe it was because of the pressure given by our choreographer =P although there were few still appear at the very last minute..

During on flight, me and Angelina was busy looking at the scene outside the plane. Although others were chit chatting or sleeping or listening to music or reading, we were actually holding our olympus camera and busy clicking on the scene outside. And I found few cute and unique scenery..

Singapore Summer School

Im so sorry to only post this now, my laptop has got 'sick' and had sent to a 'hospital' in singapore; it has been living in oversea for a month..not sure when will be back as the doctor say they are waiting for the mainboard parts to arrive to do a big operation..sigh..

Anyway, about the trip to singapore in one month ago, its a fantastic experience. Dancing from day till evening, and went shopping at night time although the legs are sore and tired. ^^

However, i got few bruises on my knees when i came back. Its mainly because of the 'knee sheene' (turning by using your knees) in the columbia dance. In details, we actually have to jump down onto the knees and turn in a very fast tempo. In worse, our instructor, Miss Nikki, make us repeat this particular steps so many times until all of the dancers are turning in the same speed..And thats why my knees are having more bruises everyday when im in singapore.

On the other hand, the classical ballet session on the morning time will always be the session where my legs get real sore. The lesson was only 3 hours, but the exercises given was not easy. In fact, its quite exhausting..maybe i have not enough stamina training. On the 3 hours lessons, we have to do pointe work (where ballerinas stand on just their three toes by wearing the special shoe), repertoire (a small dance on pointe), allegros (big jumps and petit ones), pirrouettes (the turning on just a leg), and also barre work. I need to build up my stamina in order to join next year =P

Another class i participate in the summer school is the modern jazz class. The class was awesome, the warm up we had is quite different. We did seat ups in different position =) The most important is the dance Miss Michelle choreograph is so unique, although its quite fast and not-so-easy. But its fun.
